Inca Pestene Insect Powder is recommended for the control of lice, mites and fleas on dogs, cats, fowls (poultry) calves, horses, and goats.

Restraints: Do not use on kittens and puppies under 3 months of age. Goats-Milk: Do not use on lactating Does where milk or milk products may be used for human consumption.

Dogs and Cats:

Fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.): Apply to the coat particularly around neck, chest and back. Work in against the hair and comb through the coat. Remove excess powder with a damp cloth. Dust pet after each wash. Apply at weekly intervals. Apply to bedding and kennel areas. Total eradication of fleas requires appropriate treatment of both the animal and its environment. A veterinarian should be consulted when flea infestation continues to be a problem.

Fowls (Poulty) Chickens , Ducks, Geese, Turkeys, Pheasants etc.

Lice (Mallophaga spp) and Mites (Dermanyssus spp) : Sprinkle through the feathers: under the wings and around the neck, breast and vent at weekly intervals. Apply liberally to nests and nesting areas.

Horses, Calves & Goats:

Horses : Mites (Chorioptes bovis) and Lice (Bovicola equi and haematopinus asin), Calves : Lice (Bovicola bovis, Haematopinus spp and Linognathus spp) Goats: Lice (Bovivola spp. and Linognathus stenopis): Sprinkle lightly over the body and work into the skin. Apply weekly intervals.

Great news a rep from the manufacturer they advised that pestene is safe for pregnant miniature horses but its best to avoid getting the product on the mares teats, incase the new born ingests the product while feeding which may be harmful. Its best to discontinue use a few days before birth and clean teat area to be sure.  Always good to be extra safe when new borns are involved.

How Pestene powder be used used on Canaries and finches?

The manufacturer has said that Pestene powder is not registered or recommended for use on birds as it is untested for this purpose. A lot of breeders do use this product for birds, we are not sure if this is the right thing to do for birds.
