Aristopet Avicycline Oral Antibiotic broad spectrum antibiotic is designed for the treatment of bacteria enteritis and diseases caused by tetracyycline sensitive organisms in ornamental caged birds.

Directions to use Avicycline

Not for use in food producing birds. Seek veterinary advice if psittacosis (chlamydia psittaci) infection is suspected or if birds do not respond to treatment within 5 days. Medicate the drinking water at the rate of 5g (1 measure) per 1 litre of water.

Prepared medicated drinking water fresh every 24 hours and should be the only source of drinking water during treatment. Treatment should be continued for 3 to 5 days, or until after the symptoms have disappeared. 100 ml of prepared solution will treat 20 small birds (canaries, finches, budgies,) or 4 large birds (parrots, cockatoos). Remove calcium supplement (cuttlefish, grit, nibbling blocks etc) for the duration of treatment as they reduce tetracycline absorbtion. Always read bottle before use.

For the treatment of organisms susceptible to Chlortetracycline by drinking water medication or adding to the food. Susceptible organisms may include. E.coli (enteritis) Mycoplasma spp (Chronic Respiratory Disease), Chlamydia psittaci (Psittacosis)

Active Constituent: 100 mg/g Chlortetracycline Hydrochloride.

RESTRAINTS: Do NOT use in birds intended for human consumption.

Dosage:

Administer either in drinking water OR by adding to food.

Parrots : 5.0g/L in water (1 level spoon per 125mL)

Finch / Pigeon : 2.5g/L in water (1 level spoon per 250mL)

All Ornamental Birds : 5.0g/kg in dry food (1 level spoon per 125g)

All Ornamental Birds : 10.0g/kg in Hand Rearing Food (2 level spoons per 125g)

Administration: Remove all sources of unmedicated water and prepare fresh solutions daily. Remove sources of grit and calcium for the duration of treatment. Suppy medicated water for 5 to 7 days (Psittacosis 45 days) in glass, glazed or plastic containers. Enclosed level spoon holds approximately 0.65g.
