Rabbit Rescue Sydney

Rabbit Rescue Sydney – a No Kill shelter, where every guinea pig gets a second home.

We have never said no to any Healthy pet Rabbit pig that needs to find a home, buy we cannot rehome sick and or matted Rabbits.

Owning a Rabbit is a very lovely and rewarding experience, however it does come with a great deal of responsibility.  Some Bunny owners find them self in a position where they feel they need to give up their Rabbit, this could be for a number of different reasons although giving up an unwanted pet should always be a last resort.  At Rabbit Rescue Sydney based in Birdsville also known as petsville we do appreciate in some circumstances giving up a Rabbit is the right thing to do. It can be a distressing time for both you and your bunny so it must be done the right way.   This is where we have helped thousands of unwanted animals find a home and also assisted tabbit owners peace of mind when coming to this difficult decision.

We have never said no to any Rabbit needing a home, the only conditions are we can not take sick, matted and injured pigs as we are not a vet, these animals must be fixed up at a vet before they are brought in to be re homed.

How Rabbit Rescue Sydney Started

We never planned on rehoming animals (Rabbit Rescue Sydney)  in such a big way, it just happened, almost like a calling. We tranditionally back in the old days were a pet shop that specialised in all things avian, So originally we used to re home older birds as we grew and through the teams knowlegde and interests we diversafied into small animal and mostly products. Our goal was to offer customers a unique experience at Petsville by becoming Australias leading small animal specialist, while trying to achieve this we noticed alot of people with circumstances changing and the need to find new homes for their beloved older pets. This was a turning point, as most places only sold baby animals, but we understood the necessary for the olders animals to go to the right home and have proper care.  So we started Rabbit Rescue Sydney, based at Birdsville also known as Petsville! We have always had the rule that we will only sell animals that we can re home, it all snow balled from there and here we are today.

So, yes we do still sell a small range of birds, fish and small animal, with mostly product but we also take and and offer for adoption any bird or small animal that needs a new home.  We do not sell cats and dogs and we do not have the facility to re home cats and dogs.

How Rabbit Rehoming works

We would be appreciative if you brought your Piggys in a cardboard box or carrier.  If you are not sure what to do with your guinea pigs enclosure and accessories and food as they often can be used for rescues so your more than welcome to bring them in as well.

Your Rabbit will be placed into quarantine area for a period of time, depending on its condition and ensure they are in perfect physical and mental condition for rehoming. Here they will be fed an accelent high quality diet of Vetafarm Rabbit Origins, Oaten and Meadow hay with fresh fruit and vegetables. They will be wormed and mite sprayed.

They will then be brought into the store and socialise with the Birdsville team and customers, if they have a particularly hard time adjusting to the environment we will work with them one on one to make the transition as calm as possible.

Optional but we recommend in order to make the whole process easier on the animal and new owner, we ask that you could bring a sheet of paper with any information about your rabbit being rehomed such as name, age likes and dislikes, suitability with kids etc (the new owners will appreciate knowing some of the history). if there are any toys or favourote treats that they are particularly attached to we recommend bring them in too, as it will help them adjust

We have a huge range of devoted supporters who open their hearts to rehomed animals and we have never failed to find a bunny a new family.
