Rabbit Rescue Sydney
Rabbit Rescue Sydney – a No Kill shelter, where every rabbit we get in gets a second home.
We pride ourselves in the rabbits that we rehome, but please bare in mind we have limited spaces available, as we need to find the right new home of every animal. Sometimes this can take time and we maybe unable to execpt new rabbits for rehoming due to limited space.
If you require your rabbit rehomed please give us a call to find out space availablity. We will not execpt any rabbit without prior notice (as we will not overcrowd our animals). If there is no availablity at the time you call, please keep in contact with us, so when an available space does arrive you will know and arrangements can be made for rehoming your rabbit.
Rabbits must be healthy we are not a vet clinic and we will not execpt any sick animals.
is rehoming the right option for you? This is a huge decision that effects not only you and your family but a loving creature. Prior to rehoming have you considered all options, bigger enclosures, changing diet, giving them more attention, chatting to the whole family about the issue.
Rehoming is permanent this is why we want you to weigh up all of your options before making the final decision.
Owning a Rabbit is a very lovely and rewarding experience, however it does come with a great deal of responsibility. Some Bunny owners find them self in a position where they feel they need to give up their Rabbit, this could be for a number of different reasons although giving up an unwanted pet should always be a last resort.
At Rabbit Rescue Sydney based in Birdsville also known as petsville we do appreciate in some circumstances giving up a Rabbit is the right thing to do for the rabbit and the family. It can be a distressing time for both you and your bunny so it must be done the right way. This is where we have helped thousands of unwanted animals find a home and also assisted rabbit owners peace of mind when coming to this difficult decision.
We have never said no to any Rabbit needing a home (providing there is space availablity), the only conditions are we can not take sick, matted and injured rabbits as we are not a vet, these animals must be fixed up at a vet before they are brought in to be rehomed.
Our Rabbit surrender fee is $60 each. We can only accept one rabbit at a time.
How Rabbit Rescue Sydney Started
We never planned on rehoming animals (Rabbit Rescue Sydney) in such a big way, it just happened, almost like a calling. We tranditionally back in the old days were a pet shop that specialised in all things avian, So originally we used to rehome older birds as we grew and through the teams knowlegde and interests we diversafied into small animal and mostly products. Our goal was to offer customers a unique experience at Petsville by becoming Australias leading small animal specialist.
While trying to achieve this we noticed alot of people with circumstances changing and the need to find new homes for their beloved older pets. This was a turning point, as most places only sold baby animals, but we understood the necessity for the olders animals to go to the right home and have proper care. So we started Rabbit Rescue Sydney, based at Birdsville also known as Petsville! We have always had the rule that we will only sell animals that we can rehome if the owners situation changed and it all snow balled from there to where we are today.
animal that needs a new home. We do not sell cats and dogs and we do not have the facility to rehome cats and dogs.

When you come in bring rabbit in an enclosure or carrier. If you are not sure what to do with your rabbit enclosure, accessories and food as they often can be used for rescues so your more than welcome to bring them in as well.
Your Rabbit will be placed into an enclosure to ensure they are in perfect physical and mental condition for rehoming. Here they will be fed an accelent high quality diet of Specialised for rabbits and we will have the bunny with us until we find them a home.
They will then be brought into the store and socialise with the Birdsville team and customers, if they have a particularly hard time adjusting to the environment we will work with them one on one to make the transition as calm as possible.
Optional but we recommend in order to make the whole process easier on the animal and new owner, we ask that you could bring a sheet of paper with any information about your rabbit being rehomed such as name, age likes and dislikes, suitability with kids etc (the new owners will appreciate knowing some of the history).
