Seeds and Grains

We can go into detail with species but its generally across the board with all species of bird, and interestingly enough a bird expert can usually tell what diet a bird is on when it comes time to trim the nails or a general visual health check.  Birds on low quality seed and diets often lose the shine to their feathers, they appear more drab and there nails also soften.  Soft nails can also be a vitamin D deficiency and or low grade seed.

Best quality grain to feed your bird in Sydney?

Seed in many ways has been commercialised and the quality of seed varies considerably, quite often low grade seed in Australia is the most expensive found in the chain stores.  If you talk to any show breeders they will be able to tell you seed aint seed. As a small animal and bird specialist we only stock the highest grade seed that generally comes from the darling downs in Queensland, only ever supplemented from other sources during times of drought which can happen in Australia from time to time.  The drought directly affects the grain price.

How to tell if the seed quality is good or not.

Quite often a sign of low quality seed is there will be filler,
